PRE & POST LASER HAIR REDUCTION

BEFORE TREATMENT:

Hair should be cleanly shaven – for new clients leave a small sample unshaven for clinician to assess.

Do not wear make up on the treated area on the day of laser hair removal

No sun tanning o self tanners 4 weeks prior to treatment – this includes spray tans, tanning lotions, tanning booths, sun exposure.

No waxing, plucking or tweezing at least 4 weeks prior to treatment

AFTER TREATMENT:

Avoid sun exposure and use a broad spectrum sunscreen

Redness and swelling around the follicles are common and resolve within 24 hours.

Hair may take up to 2 weeks to fall out

Avoid heat – hot tubs, saunas for 1-2 days

Do not wax or pluck between laser hair removal

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

For Laser to work the hair needs to have brown or black pigment or (chromophore) unfortunately grey and white hair doesn’t work. When the laser beam is placed on the skin the beam will absorb into the hair shaft and destroy the root. However, for this is work we need the hair to be in the growth phase – Anagen. Laser and other energy-based hair removal requires multiple treatments because hair grows in different phases. Hair can take 6-12 weeks for it to grow from roo to surface – this growth stage is known as the anagen stage and this is the perfect time to receive laser hair treatment.
This is very common for practitioners to recommend this, however, if you come in every 4 weeks you will be only treating around 15-20% of hair in the anagen stage, whereas if you come every 6-10 weeks you will be getting at least 40-50% of hair in the anagen stage. In the long run you will get a better result and less treatments will be required. There is an exception when treating hormonal hair on the face.
Commonly requested areas include underarms, bikini and men’s chest and back. The great thing with Cutrea lasers they can treat all hair types – fine or coarse.
Traditional methods of hair removal, like shaving, waxing and depilatory creams are still the go to method for many. However, these methods need to be done on a regular basis – forever. With Laser hair reduction the need to shave becomes less and less.
Honestly, No. The average reduction in hair growth is between 60-80%. For some people they will get 90% reduction however, everyone is different and it does depend on your hair growth. The hair that is left is residual hair that is fine and may take months to grow back.

No it isn’t painful however, you do feel a little heat around the bony areas and some areas may pinch but laser hair reduction should never be painful. The advantage of having treatment with a Cutrea machine is the super cool tip, the tip is cooled to 4 degrees so when it is gliding over the skin it cools as it goes.
